My mom always made me feel like I won’t be able to live without her. That I won’t be capable enough. Even though I have been financially stable and supporting HER since I was 20 years old. When she said things like you should be grateful I’m buying this and that, I’m such a good mother, I would say it’s my money though. And somewhere around then she realised that I know I’m financially independent, and the only thing keeping me with her is her mind control. So she changed the dynamics and after never having a job her entire life, my mom at age 45 started acting like she was too sick to work. Mind you her only sickness is poorly controlled asthma due to her stubbornness from not using her medications right, and her debilitating depression that is causing physical symptoms like not being able to sleep etc and ofcourse she denies the very existence of mental illnesses. Anyway, for a while she convinced me that I must pay her rent, in a 3 bed luxury flat with pool and gym facilities in the building. While I was a university student living in a flat share. I did pay for her, until she started bad mouthing me and acting like a victim as soon as I got into a relationship. She needed to keep tabs on me all the time. She needed to see my online status on social media. She needed me to call her every evening for one hour! And she needed me to describe in detail every aspect of my relationship to her. All this was very uncomfortable and I tried to set some boundaries which upset her and sent her into a spiral of acting like the victim. After one whole year of trying to assert my boundaries, I had to go no contact. Due to the constant lies she told about me, guilt trips, manipulations, and the hot and cold behaviour she had with me, where she would curse at me in one message and then send me pictures of her crying. Now she tells people that I am a horrible daughter because I suggested she get a job as I won’t be able to support her lavish lifestyle anymore. And she sends me messages like “I am sick and bed bound because of the horrible things you do to me” horrible things aka no contact.

I really feel like the girls are just going to the shows at this point because it's the "it" thing right now. The show is good but seeing it once is enough. I had tickets for night 1 in Philly and was gifted night 3 tickets, but after the first show I didn't feel the need to see it again. Not to mention leaving the stadium was pure HELL on earth. I gave my ticket to a friend's niece who is much younger and was thrilled to be able to go. The constant need to film themselves is ridiculous 🙄 and kind on embarrassing to be honest. The whole thing is cringe especially them saying they wouldn't sit anywhere but floor and then paying for stubhub markups for lower bowl It's just shitty that there are fans who would kill just be in the building and these clowns are going god know how many more times.

2023.05.28 07:34 ExtentImpossible4416 What are your recommendations for where to do with our financial plan from here? We are new to this.

Long post. My wife and I both grew up poor and have next to zero financial knowledge. I’ll give a little background about where we’re at, what we have planned for the next few years, and I would really appreciate advice and suggestions about where we should go from here.
Background of where we are at now: My wife and I are both 26 and have no kids yet but plan to within the next few years. I’m military (E-4, ~3k with my special pays after tax) and my wife is about to start a GS-6 with a locality pay that brings her a little below 50k/annually. We have 25k student debt in the government loans for my Bachelor’s and my wife’s nursing program, however, it would all go away if student loan forgiveness is upheld this Summer. Not really counting on that, though. We are about to start a $140-160k mortgage (still deciding down payment) on a property and home of about $250k in value. We got a big family discount and intend to hold on to this home as our family home once we get back full-time in 6-10ish years.
Both of our cars were paid in full with cash and are good for the foreseeable future.
We presently live in base housing so our housing and utilities are a set amount each month and removed from my check. The home that we are in the process of inheriting/buying will have a house payment around $1,300-$1,500 for 15 years depending on the home insurance we’re able to find and if we’re able to get the property tax discount. It will have a mid 5% APR. We would like to pay this down quickly and we estimate we could probably do so in 7-10 years. In addition to my wife living in the home while I’m on deployments and such(she will take a leave of absence from her main job, will likely do short term contracting for a higher wage during this period) a sibling of mine will be staying in the house full-time as a caretaker until we return in a few year and they will be paying around half of total payment plus utilities. Raising the rent any higher for them is not something we will consider.
I’ve recently started receiving TSP match for my military retirement account and only recently began contributing meaningful amounts for my portion. I’ve got it going with 5% Roth and the government matches 5% (which goes into traditional I believe) so I have 10% (~$300) of my pay going into TSP each month. To date it’s about $2.5k. My wife is beginning her federal job soon and will also have access to starting a TSP.
We will have around 15k left in a MMSA account that has 1.1% APY after our down payment for the home.
After taxes, my Roth contributions(wife hasn’t started her TSP yet), and all of our bills are paid we’ll have between $6,000-$6,500 extra each month. That doesn’t include home owning costs which will start in late Summer. After including my sibling’s rent ours will be ~$750 per month at the highest.
Where we see the next few years: I have a little less than 3 years on my current contract but I’m considering a 3 year re-enlistment if the proper conditions are met. I’ll be promoted to E-5 in less than 2 years and then E-6 if re-enlist. I then intend to switch over to the reserves as an E-5/very close to E-6 or commission if the timing allows. It would depend upon unit location, school start, and healthcare costs. It will be hard to give up Tricare with a family, plus I’m content staying in the military until reserve retirement or until I get my professional career up and running.
Once I get out I intend to go to medical school (I’ve been accepted to one in a low COL area, will immediately commission into the reserves in a program specific to medicine with this option) or law school (will only consider the top few schools and they are mostly in high COL, will most likely stay reserves until around graduation). We intend to buy a home in whatever city I do one of these programs in. The GI bill has a good housing allowance(E-5 BAH at school zip code) and the entirety of tuition for all of the schools that I’m considering. I plan for us to have a significant amount of savings by this point and my wife plans to work at least part-time (if we have kids by then) while I’m in school and she might be around a GS 7 or 8 by this point, or she might switch back to contracting. She wants to take off a few years after I finish professional school to stay home with the kids when they are young. I absolutely support this and it’s possible that she never returns to work. I’d like to switch down to part time work in my late 40’s/50’s. We are not extravagant people. We plan to see a financial advisor on base within the month for a short term plan but I’m interested in a variety of recommendations and outlooks for our long term plan.

2023.05.28 07:34 OmegaSTC I think ME4 needs to rethink sniping (3 ways I think would help)

I’d love for there to be an actually stealth dynamic. I love the action shooter style of the trilogy. To death. But they made builds supposedly meant for stealth. I’d love just a little more commitment to it. Maybe for a sniper class, boots that are muffled. Stealth kills from behind that don’t alert others….at least that work. Powers meant to distract enemies or manipulate the field in ways where you remain undetected. And layouts that offer stealth tactics. As for how to do that with team mates, I think certain teammates would work much better at it (kasumi type), or if you have a heavy krogan, give them an order to distract. Maybe choosing whether to bulrush a squad or take them down carefully would alter the events thereafter to give incentives to replay with different classes.
To build on that last one, I’d love more reasons to snipe. More open combat areas where other guns just won’t cut it (just replayed ME1 and you get those but the snipers are often weaker than other guns). I’d love for this to work with the stealth mode. Maybe give you a nice little grapple that can put you on a low roof. Nothing too Spider-Man/Batman but just to offer you a vantage point in exchange for low armor. Even the old battlefront dark trooper jumppack would be cool to get behind people.
Also to build on those, I’d love for there to be functionality to the helmets and visors. One can have an X-ray function and another a thermal. One can have a trajectory calculator to help manage higher winds. Maybe one detects vitals of people you’re talking to and alerts of Heart rate spike so you know they’re lying and you get extra dialogue options to call them out. Or you pick up their rise in temperature if they’re sweet on you lol. I’d like for all armors to actually be noticeably different, not just passive stat changes that you forget about immediately.

Russia has carried out a new massive overnight drone attack on Ukraine's capital Kyiv, killing at least one person, local officials have said.
Kyiv's mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said a man died when drone wreckage fell near a petrol station.
In Kyiv alone, more than 40 drones were downed, officials said.
In a post on social media, Mr Klitschko urged Kyiv residents to "Stay in shelters", warning of waves of drone attacks and a "Difficult" night ahead. He said at least two high-rising buildings in different districts of the capital were on fire after being hit by falling drone fragments.
The latest attack comes as city residents mark the annual Kyiv Day - a popular holiday in peaceful times.
In the meantime, Russian forces have been preparing their defences in the seized regions of south-eastern Ukraine.

With this seasons mods, we have 2, or even 3 sets of mods: arc, void and strand. So, if you want a void build, you get void mods, but if you want a arc build, you have to reset the artefact and get the arc mods. Same if you want strand mods. We really need a way to save a loudout that works with seasonal mods, so you dont need to reset it every time

2023.05.28 07:32 StreetWeird7633 Ableton just blatantly not doing random things

So I've used Ableton for over half a decade now and love it. I am aware I have utterly pushed ableton and my computer to their limits, with the amount of effects I like to use, automation, processing, etc.
So I decided to build a nice new computer to run everything smoothly. Top of the line custom build with water cooling, an i9 13900k, 4090, 64gb RAM, 1200w psu, 7tb SSDs, I spared no expense. And now I can run my projects with 100+ tracks, automation on everything, tons of effects, etc while keeping the computer pretty chilled out and sub 50 cpu usage and sub 60% RAM usage.
BUt for some reason, even with the cpu usage under 50%, and plenty of memory usage, I am experiencing weird dropouts. I used to get that horrible static glitchy sound and would resolve it or work through it, but now I'm getting stuff I didn't experience before. Certain tracks (annoyingly enough its usually the main vocal) will just dropout for like 3 or 4 seconds at random times.
I am also having issues with dropping stems into the session and those stems just will not play. I can see in the waveform that these audio data there, and the rest of the track will play, the channel is turned on, its all routed correctly, etc. I don't know what to do and I just need to finish this project. Please help.

PS I'm using the newest update of Ableton on Windows 11 and the stems in question only have stock Ableton plugins on them.
